The Dancing Adventures of the Non Coordinated: Obon Festival

It's 9:21 am and its raining elephants and monkeys because of the the typhoon...no more jogging at yoyogi park this afternoon.

Let me think back to the night of the day before yesterday and then yesterday itself.

My friends and I went into a shrine 5 minutes away from our dorm on the way back from ordering stamps for official documents when coincidentally...we found out that there was an obon festival that night!

Sasha and I squeezed our way into the large group of dancing women in yukatas and waddled around before each dance to get the choreography right. I was a mess. Thankfully, a local elderly woman helped us learn the dances faster and by the end of the night, we were able to memorize the choreography and even try to put our own twist to the dances. That is to say we were kind of getting silly with it. LOL sorry!

This squid was tempting me all throughout the night

                                                             And this waterball thingy

But instead I got okonomiyaki! Its a savoury pancake batter filled with cabbages and ham, and topped with bonito flakes, tonkatsu sauce, mayo, and egg.
